October 2022 – Tom DaParma (Club President comments)

Today’s Harry Glass club tournament was held inside the Hilton Head Plantation gates at their very own Dolphin Head course. The greens, fairways and Tee boxes didn’t disappoint and the weather proved to be better than nice. Yes, expectations were high for many at the start and they’re might have been a little tightness on the 1st tee, as bragging rights were at stake. However, see pictures attached with smiling faces which don’t reveal any disappointment. LOL

Prior to the start of play I took a picture of one club member that was all smiles. Perhaps he had a premonition. Let it be known, that one club member stood out with an award winning round. Yes, Steve Betros pretty much ran away with it from start to finish. He maintained his lead throughout and took home the glory. Steve’s gross score of 88 calculated to a net 65 and earned him bragging rights for the year. Last year’s winner Tom Rae had to relinquish the honors as the Harry Glass trophy will now be in the Betros home.

Low gross winner Chuck Moore came in with an impressive low score of 77. Along with his low gross score, Chuck had the longest drive on hole 9 and was closest to the pin on one of the par 3’s.

There were over 30 players competing today and many thanks to Jerry Sarcia for putting together a fun day for our club. If you play with me you’ll often hear me ask at the end of the round……”Did anyone get hurt”?  Well, as far as I know, nobody got hurt today and neighbors and friends getting together and enjoying a round of golf is what it’s all about.
